First when you hyperventilate you are blowing off carbon dioxide.this makes your body more alkaline(respiratory alkalosis.)If you blood gets too alkaline you pass out.
Second,since it is rising carbon dioxide levels that warn you that you need to breath you can run out of enough oxygen in your blood(and brain) without knowing you need to breath and pass out.</description>
