To dive into the water what you should first try is to dive while sitting on the pool edge. just fall in head first. Then try just falling head first into the pool like you are going to jump in a dive(be careful not to hit the wall) . then with your hands in a streamline ( hands tucking your head in) jump of the block making your hands enter the water, meaning facing down enough so you dont land on your stomache, but not facing directly down to the bottom of the pool.
When diving be sure to tuck your head in under your arms, and keep your legs straight and together.
Good luck

When i had very deep dives my swim coach got me into habbit of looking up and the tucking my head in while diving. (only do this if you have deep dives, and once you mastered not getting belly flops, becuase this will make it easy for you to land on your stomach)

Cherri

The proper way is like this:
Put your head on the hands (hands are with the tips of fingers seeing up)
Stoop but dont bend your knees.
Then, bend them a little bit (just a little bit) and then impulse your body and at the same time go into the water.

Hope it functions!!!

Kati

To dive into a swimming pool correctly you should:
Put your arms over your head like a triangle like an angle not too high
touch your toes then come up and do the angle
make sure to bend your knees a little
then dont just jump jump forward leaning your head diagonal from the pool not to down or else youll flip then after that jump forward putting your head first
keep your angle position and even when your in the water for about 4-5 seconds then start doing your stroke!

Heres two videos that ight help:

This one is how not to dive: hehe

This one is how to dive:
Its not to good buts its diving

Hope this was helpful

Holly

The easiest way to learn is to stand on the side of the pool in the deep end. Lean over at the waist with your arms pointed out straight and your hands together in a point or side by side with fingers out. Lean forward and push off down into the water and be cautious about not hitting the side of the pool. Once you can do this, try leaning forward and doing it off the diving board. Once you can break the water properly, then you can dive high and try it.

The goal of diving is to allow your hands or your feet to break the surface of the water first and then your body will glide in. If you hit with your body first then you will do a belly flop as you describe.

Another option is to jump high and the allow your feet to enter first and break the surface of the water.

Arnetta

You want to go in at an angle.Your head goes in first, feet last. You want to keep you legs together and legs straight, cause it can mess you up. If you mean off the diving board, push off it with your legs, then go into the steps above, when you enter the water, you want your body to straight, otherwise it hurts.

Lauri

Head first and not flat on belly, put your arms straight out over your head and bend at your waist and push off with your feet so that your hands go in first before your body.
