Not an awful lot will happen, it’s not permanent. Chances are that your eyes are similar to mine, and just go red and slightly blurry after swimming.
Maybe invest in a pair of goggles, worked for me (although not when you’re with friends, they just laugh
).

You’ll go blind and die. Kidding. Yeah, probably what will happen is what happened to you, but you’ll be fine.

Chlorine is an irritant and it bothers some people more than others. I don’t wear goggles underwater and I don’t have a problem except a mild sting at first. The reddness should go away by tomorrow and you should not see anymore blurring. Do wear goggles in the future since you seem to be sensitive to the chlorine.

It will clear up within a few hours. Long term, I don’t know, but my guess is that you will tire of the pain soon and buy a pair of goggles to keep the water out of your eyes.

you shouldn’t be having any long term effects. Usually, the chlorine only causes the eyes to sting. If you are still having problems several hours after you get out of the pool, you should see a doctor.

Chlorine will come in your eyes and your GF, or BF might look better for a moment.

it is not the chlorine that makes your eyes hurt it is far too dilute to do that, its much worse than that it is piss all of those young kids pissing in the pool means if u went underwater your eyes will sting. not too worry tho you eyes will clean them self’s up soon enough if it still hasn’t cleared by the end of a week then go see a dr. (or get somebody help you see one lol only joking) by the time you read this it should be fine.

Contrary to what other posters have said, it is NOT the chlorine that makes your eyes burn, it is the pH (acid/base balance) of the water. Your eyes are slightly acidic (6.8 - 6.9) but the pool is kept basic (7.4 - 7.8) (note: eye pH reports will vary slightly depending on your source. I’ve read some research that as identified eye pH as high as 7.4, but that was only one report).
The pool pH is normally checked once every two hours as the pH, depending on the usage of the pool, could change dramatically. Therefore, the acid/base level is what really makes your eyes hurt.
So, how do you get your eyes back to their normal pH? Are ya ready? …
Strangely, a couple of drops of MILK in each eye works! I used it for years, as did others, when I competed.
Why milk?
The pH of milk is 6.7 and will help the eyes return to normal.
I’ve answered this question previously and here is a link to the comment of the person who chose my answer the best answer … check it out because MILK WORKS!
