what is the best way to do it yourself restoration of an inground gunite swimming pool?

my swimming pool is nearly 30yrs old, it was there when I bought house. the surface is very rough and discolored. Any suggestions?

    If you are thinking of trying to refinish the pool yourself FORGET IT. Plaster takes a crew of experienced people. You’ll wind up with a holy mess if you do it yourself. Trust me on this.
